Creative industries are defined by nine creative sectors:
- Advertising and Marketing
- Design (product, graphic and fashion)
- IT, software and computer services
- Film, TV, video, radio and photography
- Museums, galleries and libraries
- Music, performing and visual arts
It can often be difficult to find information about the creative industries, with so many options to explore and new language to decipher. We have created this site to support young people across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and beyond to find information, explore different creative subjects and identify where they might take you in the future. If you’re interested in building your skills, knowledge and experience in these exciting areas, you’ve come to the right place!
DANCOP (the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Collaborative Outreach Programme) works to raise the aspirations of young people in our local area and support them to make an informed decision about their future. In the Midlands there are many organisations offering exciting careers in the creative industries, and not enough people with the skills to fill them – and that’s where we come in! We want to inspire the next generation of artists, designers, performers and creators to build their skills and reach their full potential.
If you’re a learner looking for information please explore our website using the buttons below – we’ve split the site into different subject areas to help you find your way around. If you’re looking for more general information, click on the “careers” button at the top to learn all about the way the creative industries operate.
We also have a page to support parents and carers who are accompanying their young person on their journey into the creative industries.
If you’re a teacher or advisor in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham or Nottinghamshire and want to know more about our offering, please contact us on the email address at the top of the page.
Get Involved... There are lots of opportunities to get involved in the creative arts and start building your skills and experience. Visit our get involved page for information about what’s available across the East Midlands!
